For Whom Does the Bluebird Weep?

Just let me talk, so I won't have to say -
say what I'm really thinking of
'til with pain and dread I go off to bed.
Trust you me, you don't want to feel what I feel,
so I'll try and keep it down,
but I hear it so loud while I sleep.
For whom does the bluebird weep?

If I keep talking my heart will jump out -
jump out right through my throat.
I want you to have it, but I don't want to cry,
so watch me as I struggle with all of my strength
to be who you want me to be,
because I don't want to lose the light in your eyes.
For whom does the bluebird cry?

You sent me a letter to say what you mean -
the letters that mean what you say.
A poem would land my head in the oven,
but you closed it with lines that brought me to tears:
"things aren't too great here as well
And you in my prayers I will keep"
For whom does the bluebird weep?
For whom does the bluebird weep?

For whom do you cry?
For whom do I weep?
For whom does the bluebird weep?
